The karst ascends from the flatland as though getting away from the underworld, brutally constrained up by something down there. The fact of the matter is the inverse. The stark, forcing rocks are what's left after a huge number of years of weathering inflict significant damage on the encompassing area. Towers of stone shape the base, actually and metaphorically, for the enchantment of this spot.
Some way or another, incomprehensibly roosted on these glorious crests, are structures. A stone hovel, as well as broad edifices of beige rock and red rooftops. They ascend where the stone closures, is if cut.
As you wonder about one, you see another, and afterward another. A progression of these mind boggling structures, made without streets, cranes, or even...stairs.
This is Meteora, in focal Greece, and it is dissimilar to wherever on the planet.
